Amanda Lear 1977

77-02-24 Amanda Lear SP

Disco singer Amanda Lear on a single-page poster in Bravo of 24 February 1977.

Lear was controversial because of rumours that she was born as a boy in Hong Kong. She apparently helped to promote that rumour to gain publicity, but when she became famous, it was not quite the image she wanted to project. So she posed nude for photos (also published in Bravo). If she indeed had a sex change, then her doctors deserve a Nobel Prize.

Her life story is extraordinary. Read about it HERE.

This poster featured on the German cover of Lear’s 1977 LP I Am A Photograph (see below)

• A visit to the Scottish estate of Bay City Rollers manager Tam Paton
• German teens who love “guest workers” from Italy (Bravo encourages openness)
• Rocker Peter Maffay now does “country-rock”

• Five reasons why the Scorpions do the best live show of all German bands
• Charles Bronson’s new film
